I will give a presentation about “Our Local WWI Heroes”, men on our war memorial and others associated with the area who gave their lives in WWI. If you have someone in your family who served in WWI that you’d like to tell us about, who you have researched or would like to, do come along and tell us about them.

We will have another in our series of “Someone in My family Tree”. I will talk about my 5 x great grandfather, Thomas Slater (1738 – 1821), known as Parson Slater of Shottle. He was the uncle of the more famous Samuel Slater, so called Hero or Traitor. I will show how the use of different research sources can enrich someone in your family tree. If there is someone in your tree you’d like to talk about at this meeting or a future meeting, do let me know. We can maybe help you research them and produce a presentation.
